İzmir Kumru
İzmir Kumru is one of Turkey’s much-loved street food classics, prepared with sucuk, sausage, sliced salami, melted Sütdiyarı Sliced Kashkaval Cheese and fresh tomato. Toasted until warm and crisp, it is a delicious choice for breakfast, a quick lunch or a satisfying snack.
Ingredients
- 2 kumru breads or sandwich rolls
- 4 slices Sütdiyarı Sliced Kashkaval Cheese
- 8 slices sucuk
- 4 slices salami
- 2 sausages
- 1 tomato
- 1 tbsp butter
- 4–5 pickled cucumbers
- Ketchup
- Mayonnaise
Directions
Cut the sausages lengthwise in half. Slice the salami into thin strips.
Cook the sucuk, salami strips and sausages in a pan until lightly browned.
Slice the tomato into thin rounds.
Cut the kumru breads in half without separating them completely.
Spread a small amount of butter on the inside of the breads and warm them lightly in a pan or sandwich press.
Place Sütdiyarı Sliced Kashkaval Cheese inside each bread first. Add the cooked sucuk, salami strips and sausages on top.
Add the tomato slices and pickled cucumbers. For a richer cheese flavour, you can add one more slice of Sütdiyarı Sliced Kashkaval Cheese.
Close the sandwiches and press them in a sandwich maker or pan for a few minutes. Once the cheese has melted and the bread is lightly crisp on the outside, remove from the heat.
Serve hot with ketchup and mayonnaise.
